Perseus is the half-mortal son of the god Zeus and the mortal princess Danaë, and is the mythical hero who, among many other feats, defeated Medusa and went on to found Mycenae.
In Warriors Orochi 4, Zeus pulled the heroes of Three Kingdoms China and the Warring States era Japan back into the patchwork world created by Orochi in the past, where they had once done battle with the serpent. Then, he created the Ouroboros Bracelets; eight bangles made from Medusa's hair and forged using the Serpent King Orochi's scythe. These were to be imbued with the power of gods and given to humanity for reasons unknown. Perseus, having grown sick of his father's meddling with humanity, rebelled against him and stole several of the bracelets before fleeing to the world below to aid humanity in fighting back against Zeus.
As it turned out, the reason Zeus had granted the power of gods to humanity was because the world Orochi had created had become unstable in his absence, so if any of the gods were to manifest there, it would shatter immediately from the sudden influx of power. In granting the Ouroboros Bracelets to humans, magic could gradually be introduced until the world became stable enough for the gods themselves to appear there. Eventually, all eight of the bracelets found their way into the hands of worthy mortals, and with the limitation lifted, Perseus's plan had entered its next stage.
"Perseus" revealed to his human allies that he'd been deceiving them all along, and revealed his true identity as the Norse god Loki, who had disguised himself as the Greek hero in order to steal the bracelets and bring his master, Odin, into the world. Odin, who had managed to survive Ragnarok, now sought to continue to escape death by destroying all life apart from himself and secure his eternal existence. As it turned out, luring Odin into this world had actually been Zeus's original plan all along, hoping to garner the aid of the humans to defeat the genocidal king of Asgard.
Loki, though he served Odin, only did so under duress. After surviving Ragnarok, Odin had executed or stripped the power of everyone who had been against him, killing many of Loki's friends and family in the process, while Loki himself had been imprisoned and tortured for an untold number of years. When at last he was released to serve the one who stole everything from him, he had lost much of his godly power, left only with the ability to create illusions. He sided with Odin in his plan to destroy everything in hopes of finding the right moment to betray him and exact his revenge. Eventually, he did find his moment and managed to weaken Odin, but was unfortunately killed when Odin retaliated. Loki still got his wish, however, as the humans managed to finish the job after his sacrifice, and that was all that had mattered to the trickster god.
WO4: Ultimate
...Or at least, that's how one path of destiny may have led.
However, if we rewind time just a bit, and if a human named Sanada Yukimura--with whom Loki had formed a friendship with while disguised as Perseus--had made the decision to chase after Loki rather than trust his plan, things would have turned out very differently.
Loki, having gained a fondness for the human, could not bear to see him killed at the hands of Odin's forces, so when Yukimura stormed the camp, Loki chose instead to fight beside him and betray Odin. From then on, he joined up with the human alliance permanently in their fight against Odin.
Through a series of long and surprising twists in the paths of fate, the conclusion changed--Loki was not killed in the final confrontation with Odin, and among other things, was reunited with his dearest friend from before the war; the real Perseus.
